The U.S. added more jobs than expected in the month of October—and the Dow Jones Industrial Average has eked its way into positive territory.

The U.S. added 638,000 jobs in October, above the consensus estimate of 530,000. The unemployment rate fell to 6.9% from 7.9%. It was above 15% earlier this year.
