Powered by strong returns for shares of Microsoft and Apple Inc., the Dow Jones Industrial Average is climbing Friday afternoon. Shares of Microsoft MSFT, +1.93% and Apple Inc. AAPL, +1.64% have contributed to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +0.41% is trading 177 points (0.5%) higher. Microsoft’s shares are up $5.07 (1.9%) while those of Apple Inc. have gained $2.22, or 1.6%, combining for an approximately 48-point bump for the Dow. Other components contributing significantly to the gain include Inc. CRM, +1.27%, Johnson & Johnson JNJ, +1.41%, and Visa V, +1.27%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the index results in a 6.58-point swing.
