The Dow Jones Industrial Average is declining Monday morning with shares of Merck and Dow Inc. facing the biggest losses for the index. The Dow DJIA, -0.38% was most recently trading 89 points lower (-0.3%), as shares of Merck MRK, -1.25% and Dow Inc. DOW, -1.85% have contributed to the index’s intraday decline. Merck’s shares have dropped $0.99 (1.3%) while those of Dow Inc. are down $0.82 (1.2%), combining for an approximately 12-point drag on the Dow. Caterpillar CAT, -1.73%, Travelers TRV, -1.05%, and Walmart WMT, -0.76% are also contributing significantly to the decline. A $1 move in any of the Dow’s 30 components equates to a 6.58-point swing.
