Behind negative returns for shares of Amgen Inc. and Merck, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is declining Tuesday afternoon. The Dow DJIA, -0.24% was most recently trading 89 points lower (-0.3%), as shares of Amgen Inc. AMGN, -2.32% and Merck MRK, -1.94% are contributing to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline. Amgen Inc.’s shares are down $5.44, or 2.2%, while those of Merck are down $1.39 (1.8%), combining for a roughly 45-point drag on the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the decline are Chevron CVX, -1.64%, Travelers TRV, -1.37%, and Walgreens Boots WBA, -1.17%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the benchmark equates to a 6.58-point swing.
