Behind negative returns for shares of Chevron and Verizon Communications Inc., the Dow Jones Industrial Average is falling Tuesday morning. Shares of Chevron CVX, -2.07% and Verizon Communications Inc. VZ, -1.23% have contributed to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline, as the Dow DJIA, -0.21% was most recently trading 107 points, or 0.3%, lower. Chevron’s shares are down $2.25 (2.1%) while those of Verizon Communications Inc. are off $1.15, or 2.0%, combining for an approximately 22-point drag on the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the decline are Travelers TRV, -1.68%, Honeywell International Inc. HON, -1.49%, and IBM IBM, -0.79%. A $1 move in any of the benchmark’s 30 components equates to a 6.58-point swing.
