Dragged down by negative returns for shares of Dow Inc. and Walgreens Boots, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is down Thursday afternoon. The Dow DJIA, -0.09% was most recently trading 37 points, or 0.1%, lower, as shares of Dow Inc. DOW, -4.88% and Walgreens Boots WBA, -1.76% have contributed to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline. Dow Inc.’s shares are off $3.10, or 4.8%, while those of Walgreens Boots have dropped $0.92, or 1.7%, combining for a roughly 26-point drag on the Dow. Merck MRK, -1.48%, Verizon Communications Inc. VZ, -1.09%, and Procter & Gamble PG, -1.04% are also contributing significantly to the decline. A $1 move in any of the index’s 30 components results in a 6.58-point swing.
