While almost all suburban school districts in the Chicagoland area gave families a choice to send students on a hybrid schedule, such as for two or three days a week, District 74 did not. It gave families only the choice to send students full-time, five days a week, or else learn remotely. The reason for the hybrid schedules was to minimize the number of people in a room together at one time, and reduce the number of hours students were exposed to other people, thereby reducing exposure to COVID-19, other suburban districts said.
