Shares of Caterpillar and Dow Inc. are seeing strong returns Wednesday morning, propelling the Dow Jones Industrial Average rally. The Dow DJIA, +0.89% was most recently trading 345 points (1.1%) higher, as shares of Caterpillar CAT, +3.43% and Dow Inc. DOW, +3.33% have contributed around a quarter of the index’s intraday rally. Caterpillar’s shares have climbed $8.62 (4.0%) while those of Dow Inc. have climbed $2.37, or 3.9%, combining for an approximately 72-point bump for the Dow. Chevron CVX, +2.90%, American Express AXP, +2.49%, and Honeywell International Inc. HON, +2.70% are also contributing significantly to the gain. A $1 move in any of the Dow’s 30 components equates to a 6.58-point swing.
