Video: Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq hit record highs at open (CNBC)
Stocks ended higher Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average posting its first record close since Jan. 20 as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite each scored their third straight record finish. The Dow rose around 237 points, or 0.8% to close near 31,385, taking out its previous closing top of 31,188.38. The S&P 500 gained around 29 points, or 0.7%, to close near 3,916, while the Nasdaq advanced around 131 points, or 0.9%, to finish near 13,988. Analysts said earnings, the continued COVID-19 vaccine rollout and expectations Congress will approve another large round of aid spending designed to bolster the economy helped equities continue their push into record territory.
